We're a light in the heart of Lebanon, Virginia. Embracing all of God's children with the Light, which is Jesus Christ.

We are an active congregation of the United Methodist Church nestled in downtown Lebanon, Virginia—the heart of Russell County. And the heart of our ministry is to reach out in Christ-like love to all. Close to home we serve Lebanon and Russell County with our times of Worship, Meetings for Substance Abuse, and supporting ministries such as Elk garden School. We serve in the world through our United Methodist connections and our personal service with the Methodist church in El Salvador.  We are working for God's kingdom by touching lives with the transforming Gospel of Jesus Christ. This work connects us with all people who reside within God's kingdom and we welcome and support all persons in all situations. Our desire is to bring hope to the hopeless through the Gospel of Jesus Christ..

Worship

Our worship services focus on how the Word of God and the Sacraments of the Gospel bring hope to our lives in this age. How we are loved and how we are called to love every person who breathes the breath of God upon this spinning orb we call earth.

Take part in our traditional worship service at 11 a.m. Sundays. You will experience worship that is centered on Jesus, includes Biblical teaching, and offers frequent sacramental ministry.

The Word of God

We believe that hearing God's Word read and preached is a means of grace in which we experience God's presence and receive grace to grow in our faith as we grow in the likeness and love of Jesus.

All of our worship services include scripture reading and a sermon that is firmly rooted in the Bible and seeks to interpret God's Word for our lives today.

Holy Communion

We believe that Communion is a sacrament in which we receive all the life of God. In this Holy Mystery we are united to Christ and to one another and receive God's grace to help us become more and more like Jesus.

Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month in our traditional services and on Holy Day of Service throughout the year..

Baptism

We believe that Baptism is the sacrament that incorporates us into the Body of Christ as we are united to the death and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism is a marked time in our journey of faith.

We baptize all persons who breathe the breath of God, from the newborn to those of great age. We believe that God's grace is poured out upon all who receive baptism. He continues to perfect us in the Love of Jesus as we grow in his Grace.

Christian Education

for adults and children

We offer a variety of opportunities for Christian Education. Adult Sunday School is offered with a variety of class options at 10 a.m. each Sunday. Children's Sunday School called Resurrection Railroad is also offered at 10 a.m. We also offer a Children's sermon and Children's church during our 11 a.m. service.

Bible Study

If you are interested in diving deep into the Word of God and learning more about how to discern scripture in our time Adult Bible Study is for you. (All leaders should participate from time to time in our Bible Studies.) Join us at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays to engage in prayer, study, and conversation centered on God's Word and how it applies to our lives today.

Engaging Topical Study

Our Bible studies follow a couple of formats. One is topical study, in which we engage a current event or issue and study what God's Word has to teach us.

Book Studies

We also do in-depth studies of single books of the Bible. Studies in this format help us to delve into the depths of Scripture in order to more fully understand what God's Word is saying to us today.
